responsible biking
Mountain bike routes lead into terrain where particular demands on the
personal responsibility of the mountain biker are placed. So rocks and trees
may make the track impassable for a while or the track goes through steep
terrain past dangerous spots where there is the risk of falling. Through the
management of the forests and Alps oncoming traffic, parked vehicles or
road blocks can be expected at any time. When mountain biking it is important
that certain rules of behaviour are observed to avoid conflict with other
user groups and to ensure one’s own safety. These includes in particular:
• Responsible cycling with controlled speed able to stop within half your
range of vision, particularly on bends, as obstacles can be expected at
any time (e.g. rocks, branches, damaged road surfaces, temporarily
stored wood, grazing stock, stock gates, barriers, vehicles, forestry
machines, road blocks etc.)
• Walkers and pedestrians have priority Considerate overtaking is carried
out at walking pace.
• The agricultural and forestry management has priority on the permitted
tracks. Stock gates are to be closed again, temporary road blocks are to
be observed.
• Do not leave the permitted signposted tracks. In this way wildlife and
game habitats will be preserved.
• Good tour planning takes into account the difficulty of the route and one’s
own ability. This also includes helmet protective equipment and a moun-
tain bike in technically perfect condition.
